Save Resources With A Shower Water Saver

By Sandra West

Taking a long shower or luxurious bath is okay once in a while but if it is a habit, now is the time for change. Conserving water is a serious effort that ensures that underserved communities have enough water. It may seem minor but there are some parts of the world with water that is unsafe to drink. Some people find that cutting back on bathing helps with a shower water saver.

Some people get the impression that water conservation tools and accessories are designed to decrease or weaken the flow. To a degree, this is truth but a person should ask themselves how much they really need to use. By looking at their daily usage objectively, they may find other ways to reduce consumption.

The improved shower head not only uses less but has varying speeds that are similar to pulsating models. Many can be installed in a matter of minutes. As the functions are relatively simple, finding a speed with the right pulse should not be hard. Shower heads of this type are also available at some utility companies at no charge. More of these agencies have campaigns that encourage the consumer to do their part in saving the planet.

Being able to save water is something that everyone in a household should do often. Little things like washing dishes or clothing less can make a difference. Or better wear work clothes less or use disposable eating utensils. Body cleansing cloths are great for those who take more than one shower or bath a day and are very effective in the removal of odors and perspiration. Reusing bath water for something outside of human consumption is also a good idea.

Landlords should contact their utility agencies or government offices about ways their tenants can save energy. Often there are rebate programs along with equipment and accessories that is of no charge to the occupant. If they feel inclined, they may want to encourage renters to save resources on their own.

There are also some unusual ways of saving around the home that only take a little creativity. For instance, water used for boiling food may be conserved for washing hair. Instead of washing the car the old fashioned way, try using a chamois cloth to remove light dirt. Recycled bath or shower water can be used on household plants or to water the grass.

There are also ways to keep foliage and gardens hydrated in a sustainable fashion. These are ideal for all types of homes and designed for extreme heat or cold. Many home and garden chain stores or green retailers have options that are easy and affordable.

Trying these and other methods for saving water can help not only reduce a water bill but lead to an ongoing habit of using resources wisely. After a while, people will find they are able to heat and cool off spaces faster using less energy. Once they find water conserving bathroom equipment, they should try converting their kitchen and other rooms that use plumbing regularly.
