From Retro To Modern: Brick Pavers Installation Bergen County NJ

By Janet Reynolds

Many people confuse marble with travertine. Both look polished and chic. However, the veins in marble are not straight, but run all over the place. Both are a type of limestone though. Many people favor the marbled effect as it creates a lovely, veined, smooth surface in any home . It is primarily associated with Italian-style houses and speaks about both glamor and wealth. However, Tuscan Villas are not the only places to use this paving. Brick Pavers Installation Bergen County NJ work well in contemporary lofts and in some retro decoration too.

Marble is often seen in bathrooms in black or white tiles and on the floor in paving. But you need not limit it to these colors. The beauty of marble is that it comes in a variety of colors. Everything from red, to pinks, oranges and even green, greys, charcoal and black. The darker colored marble is very dramatic and should be used for large spaces with lots of light so as not to make space look cramped. Lighter hues can tile floors just about anywhere, adding a serious dose of glam to the house. But is marble the right look for your house?

Using marble in modern homes is now popular. When it is polished, clean-cut, and used in monotones, it adds the luxurious touch without making the loft or apartment too ornate. It is the perfect flooring if you are looking to work decadence into your minimalist, contemporary space. Leave out colored versions though, as amber, green, or red will look too bohemian.

Using marble to tile staircases is very effective. It will create a dramatic focal point and draw the eye towards it. It is especially stunning when used in a central staircase in a dark color. For tiling in other areas of the home, use it in light colors like white and beige in bathrooms. The zen feel it will give the space will be delightful.

You can use marble flooring outside the home too. If you are lucky enough to have an outdoor fireplace, pave the seating area with this tile in a precise cut. Outdoor fireplaces are high-end pieces of garden decor, so it makes sense to use the marbled paving rather than brick. However, be careful of the weather when using this veined stone outside, as it is very slippery when wet. That said, it is a very tough stone and can really take a lot of use so is a good option if you have children and pets running around.

Uncut, unpolished versions of this type of tile are also available. Generally cheaper than the polished kinds, they are great for outdoor spaces. Make an enchanting garden path or corner for morning coffee with these stones. They come in dull browns normally, so you will need to brighten the area around them up with either moss growing between the stones, or a good, small, creeping foliage. It is also interesting to surround them with colored stones. These tiles, when used outside, are a great compliment for more rustic houses.

Marble is not a cheap tile. Therefore, you may want to consider using it as an accent stone, rather than paving the whole floor with it. It can complement other types of flooring very nicely. Consider running a strip of marble in the middle of your floor, with wood on either side. It creates a unique, bold, retro look that you are sure not to find easily in other homes.

Whether you fancy blue, or are more into the lighter colors, there are multiple places where you can source different kinds of marble. Start by deciding where you want to put it, and what effect you want, then look online and voila! You can choose the right type for your specific needs.
