There are dog people and cat people, that's for sure. Although both beautiful and lovable, dogs and cats are entirely different when it comes to their character. Dogs are more friendly and more responsive, while cats usually have their own opinion about anything, and might be moody sometimes. In any case, Siberian cats cannot be placed in any category, because they are much friendlier and more playful than other cats. By their size medium to large, Siberians are extremely friendly, gentle and playful. They behave nicely and really polite, but will gladly chase a ball or play fetch. They stay kittens for long. Siberian cat is fully adult at the age of five, which is really unusual for a cat. And you will most certainly fall in love in those lovely large, soft paws.

Although they are also unusually healthy, you should still ask your breeder for a health certificate, just to make sure all ancestors were perfectly healthy and without traces of genetic diseases. Siberian's life expectancy is maybe 15 years, but some live much longer. Good quality food and both mental and physical activities have something to do with it.

There is another thing all Siberians usually love, and that is watching the world from above. There is something especially interesting in climbing on the tree or on some other high place and observing everything from there. These lovely animals will really enjoy spending their time in your garden, if you have one. If not, give them something to climb on.

These are unusually attractive, even impressive cats. Beautiful shades of caramel, cinnamon and chocolate are especially attractive, and bicolor, tricolor and Tabby variations are also really lovely looking. There is also a variation called color pointed. This one should always have beautiful blue eyes, while other variations may have eyes in different colors.

Siberians should be fed with high quality cat food, two or three times a day. They are creatures of habit, and you should feed them always in the same time of the day. Ask the breeder about the particular type of food your new kitten is used to eat, as well as about the feeding schedule. If you want to change the type of the food, do it gradually, not at once.

Siberians have beautiful double coats, and they shed. Twice a year, usually sprig and autumn, they also change their coats. Regular grooming will keep both them and your home tidy. Their hair tangles easily, but good daily brushing will prevent it.

Siberians are unusual creatures, beautiful and clever, playful and affectionate. But, there is another thing you will love about them. Their purr is simply impressive, and you will know for sure when your pet is perfectly happy.
