Sanitize The Air As Well As The Area With Room Fragrance Spray

By James Harris

Everyone has had an embarrassing odor experience in their home at some point. Undesirable smells can actually change the perception of a living space from a clean and well-kept dwelling, to one of poor housekeeping or a negligent host. Having a room fragrance spray on hand can help a well-meaning host or hostess from unnecessary embarrassment.

No one knows this issue better than those living in small apartments or micro-houses. Even the usual bathroom activities can leave the entire living space in a cloud of unpleasant smells that runs everyone out of the place. Every bathroom needs a handy bottle of perfume, incense, or spray deodorizer in order to prevent the embarrassment of walking out to upturned noses and fleeing guests.

Incense comes in sticks and cones, and candles are a lovely accent with a pleasant smell. Unfortunately, for a household with children or pets, such openly burning accents can result in burns on themselves, or fires in the house. Keeping a candle on the back of the toilet along with a book of matches was the solution for our grandmothers, but we have safer options available to us now.

Plug-in household deodorizers are sometimes regarded as a fire hazard as well. Not only that, but those often are only effective when kept the liquid inside is kept full, and they provide a low-level, constant smell. A more powerful deodorizer is often called for when the real stench clouds are unleashed in kitchens or bathrooms.

Housecats are not only the cause of many fires in rooms with a candle lit, but they are also the cause of much of the stench one might experience in an area. Litter boxes are notoriously smelly, even when the cat is a notoriously tidy pet who covers their messes thoroughly. Keeping sprays on hand can help deal with the smells when the owner is not able to scoop the box right away.

While litter box and other pet smells are unpleasant to us, they are a dinner bell to many household pests. Roaches love nothing more than to set up housekeeping in a litter box, as they are likely to feed on the contents. The roaches are an ideal food source to many rodents, and such an infestation only serves to worsen the overall odor problems in the area.

Many people choose food based smells over cologne or even floral fragrances. This can have less than desirable effects, however, as banana or apple cinnamon smells can actually attract fruit flies and other pests into the home. Most sprays have a basic sanitary smell as one might expect in a hospital environment, or they have floral based odors such as lavender or lilac.

On occasion a person may have an allergy to ingredients in these sprays. When inviting guests over, one might keep an ear and an eye out for signs of allergy in their guests. Uncontrolled sneezing, coughing, or red eyes may be indicative of a deodorizer allergy rather than a pet allergy.
