Active Shooter Response Training PA

By Jose Martin

When it comes to shootings, most often people think of gangs, murder and robberies. While this is the case, there have been far more school shootings in the last few decades than ever before in history. While this is the case, active shooter response training PA can often help save lives.

One of the most important things taught during these training sessions is to stay alert and aware to stay alive. As such, if hearing or seeing something that is out of place, it is important to notify administrators and local authorities in an effort to halt what could be an active shooter situation. Whereas, attendees also learn information on how to react during an active shooter situation, with the first being when in doubt, get out.

In most cases, these incidents involve more than person whom uses a firearm such as an assault rifle, shotgun or in some cases handguns to start a shooting spree. While there have been many such incidents, there have also been many which have been prevented by fellow students whom became aware of such plans in advance.

Since the early 1990s, violent crime in schools were far more frequent than those experienced away from school. While this is the case, in 2007 crimes which occurred in schools and the public sector were basically the same. It should be that school violence is in no way a new phenomenon. Regardless, it is something that needs to stop so that innocent children and others do not continue to be innocent victims of such incidents.

Even as far back before radio and television, there were incidents involving violence in schools. For example, while of different scope and size, the first shooting known to involve a school was when an Native American tribe infiltrated a school house, killing the schoolmaster and all but 3 children. As such, the loss of life during such incidents began way back before one could be motivated to do so by radio and television stories or video games.

Reports show that there were twenty four reported school shootings in 2014. It was a difficult year for students at all levels. For, those committing these crimes had no discrimination to age or grade level. Something that was well proved by the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting and those in other elementary, middle and high schools.

These emergencies regardless of location often last for hours though in some cases, only minutes. Some incidents are limited to a localized area while others can be spread across a large distance. In either case, these incidents often threaten anyone in range of the shooter. As such, when encountering an emergency in progress, it is important to find the closest area which is secure and as far away from the active shooting as possible.

Whether occurring at a business, school or somewhere in public, those whom attend these sessions often have the ability to either prevent, halt or save oneself and others. For, knowing how to act and react can often be beneficial when happening upon, or caught during an active shooter incident. As such, a few hours of training could actually provide the tools necessary to halt, or prevent these mass shootings and save lives.
