Ways Of Using Learning Language Conventions Picture Book

It is believed that man did not develop language until an advanced stage in evolution. This suggests that before then they use sign language and drawings to communicate. One can be able to tell a whole story just by observing a single picture. That is how messages can be interpreted from the sites where people used to live. So learning language conventions picture book is indeed possible.

At this point, most of us have learned about language convention. We already know how to use it in spoken word and written information. Convention can also be used in visual communication. It is brought out by emotion, mood and ideas sometimes. Picture books are good for children between 1-13 years of age. They learn interpretation at a young age.

Pictures can be made with a consistent appearance of lines knows as line work. It can be made using ink of various colors. The lines or blocks of color give a lot of detail, and you can tell what the picture is about. The tone work may include shading which brings out the gentleness in the picture. Border line techniques bring out a dynamic feeling.

After you teach the various kinds of conventions to look out for. You should encourage the students to study more picture books. With more experience, they can be able to tell almost everything the artist is trying to say in the picture. After a while, the students can also be able to use convention to send messages across and put various emotions.

There are the conventions of the narrative. A narrative can be in the form of a film, television program or a novel. The students look at it pretty much the same way. Both films and novels are divided into 3 act segments. It starts with a few characters who brew conflict. After a while, they bring complications in the second segment and the climax which is the last segment is the third segment is where everything is solved.

There is symbolism in almost every work of literature. It is also present in a pictorial book. If there appear a storm and a lot of lightning it may symbolize that something bad is bound to happen eventually. A gloomy weather is also a sign of low spirits. If there is the presence of bright sunshine and clear skies, that seems to be a jovial story.

The form is another thing associated with the picture book. For example, a film may appear in a set of flashbacks from the subplot. The subplot may contain the things that happened to the main plot. The same way, a picture book can be presented in a series of collages. The organization, style, and sequence affect the visual language.

The setting of the book tells a lot. You can tell from what time the story is based just by looking. For example, a present-day settings are supposed to have expensive cars and skyscrapers. An olden day setting has over sized clothes and would be in black and white. The future would have a lot of technology such as robots.
